Michael Sawey was born and raised in Fort Worth, TX, and graduated from Texas Wesleyan University with a degree in Biology. Michael’s passion for educating the public about science led him to serve as a high school science teacher for several years. Spurred on by his passion for environmental literacy, Michael continued his graduate studies at Texas Christian University. After earning his Master’s degree in Environmental Studies in 2008, Michael joined the Biology department at TCU. Now a Senior Instructor, Michael teaches Natural History and is the course coordinator for Contemporary Issues in Biology, one of the largest and most popular classes on campus. The class owes much of its success to the use of the Issues-based curriculum and engaging interactive learning tools provided by the Sawey/Sawey text, Issues in Biology.
